Renovations/Additions, Design/Architect of Record

The original home design is characterized by low sloped roofs gesturing towards the lake and creating a horizontal relationship with the sloped terrain of the property. This usonian style of architecture is furthered by the new additions added to the top of the existing home, expressed by steep angular volumes and clean roof lines.

Stepping back from the lake, the new additions sit on top of the rear of the house and allow the original volumes to remain unchanged and unchallenged.

One of the homes most defining characteristics is the use of butt-glazed corner windows. The new addition and existing bedroom maintain this incredible unbroken view perspective towards the lake and further emphasize the usonian connections with nature and landscapes that were strived for during the mid-century modern era of the 1950’s.
