At HEID Architects, we design modern homes and buildings to promote vibrant human experiences founded by qualities of nature and our environment.
With over 20 years of experience, we provide design and architectural services all over the mid-west. It’s our highest priority to respond to our clients’ requests in ways that inspire them and exhibit their collective ideas.
Rooted in experience designing homes in the Southern California modernist style, our designs challenge the status quo of mid-west living through creative dialogues between our natural environment and the man-made buildings we live in. In doing so, our process draws to the forefront connections with nature and site that blend the unique aspects of each property with our clients’ idiosyncratic preferences and how they wish to experience their day-to-day life.
We find it important to imbue in each project both the tangible and intangible qualities of nature to promote healthy environments and improve human experiences. Our process for designing beautiful, innovative homes always relies on the landscapes that are innate to the project or embellished by our landscape designs. Our building forms and material selections are subservient to the human experiences they foster and create a dialogue between nature and the man-made.
Nothing exemplifies our ethos more clearly than our North Shore project. The home exhibits so many unique experiences allowing the owners to reflect on their surroundings while still feel the creature comforts of home.
As our technologies continue to exponentially expand, we find it important to embrace the tools that leverage sustainable architectural outcomes with innovative construction techniques. Through cross-disciplinary collaboration, problem solving, innovation, and design creativity, we strive to design experiences for our clients that improve how we feel and inspire us to think critically about how we construct homes. We believe that human health should be at the forefront of designing for our futures, and that human experiences are improved by doing so.
Our latest building, the Griffith Veterinary Hospital, embodies this ideal through the innovative application of cross-laminated timber, an exposed wood structural product that reduces carbon footprint and delivers a pleasant aesthetic finish. We aim to utilize this technology in future projects, including a new private residential workshop.
Our clients’ idiosyncratic needs are the energy behind our solutions. We embellish our clients’ requests through thoughtful and simple designs while aspiring to make spaces that speak to context and seamlessly blend meticulous experiences into elegant organizations.
Building forms and material applications are subservient to the human experiences they foster and create a dialogue between nature and the man-made.
We are dedicated to inspiring our clients with solutions that go far beyond their initial expectations and feel obligated to present designs that compel new discussions and ideas for living, working, and having fun.
