This new private residence embodies traditional vernaculars simplified into modern forms. A subdued material palette of washed-out brick, subtle white tones of plaster, and warm natural wood accents comprise the exterior of the house.
Large openings exhibit the warmth of the interior home while allowing a direct and organized connection to the immediate outdoor landscaped areas surrounding the home.

The residence is designed as a mass, carved and curated to develop connections to the outdoors.
Each subtractive cut drives exterior connections into the experience and influences the program of the home.
With each cut, a natural wood cladding “under belly” representative of the modern home form is revealed. Each projecting mass represents the traditional forms that the neighborhood has grown to love and embrace.
